"We empower young Catholics to win victory over pornography."

book holy desire

From a young age, we are warned about things that are bad for us. Cigarettes, drugs, gambling, alcohol...
but what about pornography?

"Every parish in the country needs to have Holy Desire Ministries speak to their youth."

Everything in business is learnable, fixable, and figureoutable.

You don't have to be a workaholic
to be successful. Really.

about holy desire ministries

Porn can singlehandedly cause addiction, isolation, aggression, shame, relationship problems, and so much more...yet we brush it under the rug as "too awkward" to talk about and hope it doesn't touch the lives of our children.

The problem is, it already has

90% of children between the ages of 8-16 have viewed pornography. It's past time we talked about it and brought this evil into the light. Our youth need to know what they're up against, but beyond that...they need to know the One who will set them free.

Through mini retreats, we face the "awkward" head on and share our own struggles. We lay it all out on the line so that students understand what is at risk when they try to fulfill their desires with porn.

We are moms, dads, brothers, sisters, daughters, and sons on a mission to do better for the next generation. We pray that they may realize the fulfillment of every desire lies in Jesus and Jesus alone.

Holy Desire Ministries is an apostolate devoted to exposing the evil of pornography & stirring young Catholics into a healing relationship with Christ.

Sam is a native of Ohio now living in central Iowa with his wife, three daughters, and goldendoodle. He became a part of Holy Desire Ministries because he wants others to know that freedom from pornography addiction is possible with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. In addition to Sam's dedication to the Catholic faith and to this incredible ministry, he's an avid reader, aspiring writer, hiking enthusiast, and a fan of many different sports. He is currently a Finance professional working for a major convenience-store operator in the midwest.

Ty Flood is a husband, father of three boys, and a business professional in Des Moines. After struggling with pornography use through his younger years, Ty brings to Holy Desire Ministries what he wishes someone would've shared with him at that point in his life. Alongside his love for the faith, Ty enjoys adventuring around town with his family, all things fitness/Jiu-Jitsu, and enjoying a good cigar with his friends.

Ali Henke is a wife, mother to four, and religion teacher. Her love for Christ is strengthened through motherhood and a constant need for His grace. Ali's love for the Lord flows into her work of teaching middle school students about the faith and developing a relationship with Jesus.

Maria Haas

John Cord is a husband, dad of three boys, and surety bond agent in Des Moines. After joining the Catholic faith in 2017, he wanted to be more involved in the faith and showcase His glory in Holy Desire Ministries. Alongside his joy in the Lord, John loves walks, evenings on the front porch, and wrestling matches with his boys.

Abigail Merschman is a small group leader and worship band leader. Even though I was raised Catholic, in 2021 I came to know Jesus as one who desires a personal relationship with me. One of abundant joy, adventure, and unceasing trust. Our Lord has sent me out to share my personal testimonies with our youth, including the truths of pornography, so that they may find the greatest love.

Maria Haas is from Muscatine, Iowa and is currently serving as youth minister at Saints John and Paul Parish in Altoona, Iowa. She served as a FOCUS missionary after graduating from Iowa State University with a degree in Kinesiology and Health. Maria can usually be found outdoors, in Adoration or with friends and family.
